Meet Your Tour Guides

With decades of experience among them, you are in good hands with our trained staff of Tour Guides. If you ask them a question and they do not know the answer, without a doubt they will find it for you. Here are some of our Tour Guides:

  • guild_nichols

    Guild Nichols

Nichols is a 25-year resident of Boston's North End and the founder of NorthEndBoston.com - the neighborhood web site portal. He is the creator of the original North End Secret Tours and the co-creator of Old Boston Tours. Guild has also written and lectured extensively about the history of the North End. When he is not giving tours, he is a designer, specializing in Internet marketing and search engine strategy development with clients throughout the United States and Europe. Contact Guild

  • Matthew Black

Matthew Black fell in love with Boston's history the second he crossed the city line in 1995. When he's not studying the history of the North End and Old Boston, he is very interested in the local civic scene serving with numerous local organizations. Most noteworthy, he is the founder of Friends of The Prado, a community group that maintains the Paul Revere Mall. His life experiences come from a varied background, from working on cruise missiles to newspaper publishing to being in the guts of the advertising world. Of all his experiences, the one he enjoys most is the chance to take a walk with new friends, showing off the city he loves.

He and his family live in the North End on a permanent working vacation.

  • Ann Nall

Ann Nall is an artist (portrait painter of 4-legged friends) and a retired professional fundraiser for not-for-profit organizations. She has lived in Boston for over a decade and felt immediately at home when she first arrived. Ann currently shares time between the land of Steinbeck (Monterey, CA) and the land of Adams and Revere here in the North End. Nall is especially talented at delivering the tales of the many colorful personae generated from 400 years of Bostonians, taking them out of the library, onto the street, and giving a kind voice to those who can no longer speak for themselves.

    Lauren Nelson

Lauren Nelson knows something about assembling a good story for a willing audience. Originally from the entertainment mecca Las Vegas, Nevada, Lauren has been bringing her flair for drama as a community theater director. But it's not her work in the theater that makes her such a great addition to the Old Boston Tours lineup - or even the fact that she put herself through college giving tours. No, her perspective on history is based on her exploration of Massachusetts law as an attorney for the Commonwealth. The jury will rule: Nelson delivers a tour without precedent.

“When my husband booked your tour I thought it was going to be all off the revolutionary war stuff that put me to sleep in high school. Who knew there were so many crazy stories! And yes, I'm recommending you to everyone who visits Boston!"
